DHS Allows Employers to Accept Expired List B Documents for I-9 and E-Verify

On May 1, 2020, the Department of Homeland Security (“DHS”) issued a temporary policy allowing employers to accept List B documents such as driver’s licenses and state ID cards that have expired on or after March 1, 2020, due to widespread stay-at-home orders and restrictions preventing timely renewal. For instructions on how to properly complete Form I-9 under this temporary policy, please see the DHS website here. Note: As of April 24, 2020, all E-Verify and I-9 inquiries should be routed to the USCIS’ new email addresses: e-verify@uscis.dhs.gov and i-9central@uscis.dhs.gov.
