Update on Continuity of Business Under California Stay-At-Home Order

UPDATE: 3/20/2020 6:00 PM PT

California Governor Gavin Newson issued an Executive Order directing all California residents to stay at home except for essential needs. Businesses providing non-essential services have also been mandated to temporarily close operations until further notice. All non-essential staff at GLC are currently working remotely in light of San Francisco’s previously announced shelter-in-place policy, and we are maintaining essential services to continue providing uninterrupted preparation and submission of immigration filings to the USCIS. We appreciate employees’ patience as we make efforts to coordinate critical signatures and physical services through this period. Our team has been, and will continue to be fully available by email and phone to support our clients and their employees through this time.

As many of our clients are aware, today, March 16th, San Francisco county, along with 6 other Bay Area counties, implemented a shelter-in-place public health order effective tonight at midnight in an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Under this directive, all residents are ordered to stay indoors except to conduct “essential activities” such as seeking medical care, gathering food and supplies, or caring for family members. All business, other than “essential businesses and essential government functions,” are required to cease all operations. We have confirmed with the San Francisco city government that the provision of legal services is considered an "essential business" under this policy, and our San Francisco office will remain open, and partially staffed. As with most other businesses in the Bay Area, non-essential staff will be working remotely.

We will continue to remain open and maintain normal business operations, and we are closely monitoring and communicating with our partner vendors and mail services that may announce service restrictions or delays. We will keep our clients and their employees on any impact this shelter-in-place directive, or any other closures, has on immigration filings and other matters.
