USCIS Conducts Second Lottery of FY2021 H-1B Cap Registrations

This morning, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) issued results of a second lottery of H-1B registrations conducted due to insufficient numbers needed to reach the annual quota of 85,000 new H-1Bs (the “cap”) for Fiscal Year 2021 (FY2021). Due to the widespread economic impact of COVID-19 on U.S. employers, the USCIS has very likely been prompted to draw upon reserves of previously submitted registrations in order to meet the cap. Registrants selected in the second lottery will be able to have H-1B cap petitions filed on their behalf between August 17 and November 16, 2020. We will notify our clients of newly selected registrants accordingly.
