USCIS Increases Premium Processing Fee to $2,500 Effective Monday, October 19th

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced this morning that it is increasing the government filing fee for premium processing from $1,440 to $2,500 effective Monday, October 19th. This fee increase follows the passing of H.R.9337, a government funding bill that, as reported last week, permits the USCIS to make sweeping and expansive changes to the premium processing program. This abrupt announcement from the USCIS, which relies entirely on filing fee revenue for its operations, also follows the recent injunction that temporarily stalled the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) significant fee increases for nearly all immigration benefits.

All filings being submitted with a Form I-907, Request for Premium Processing on or after Monday, October 19, 2020 must include the new fee amount of $2,500.

We appreciate the patience of our clients as we reach out on impacted eligible filings, which includes H-1B change of employer and I-140 immigrant petitions. At this time, the USCIS is not yet taking action on further expansion of the premium processing program as permitted by H.R.8337 -- eligibility for premium processing has not been established for additional categories such as employment authorization document (EAD) applications.
