USCIS Completes Initial FY2021 H-1B Cap Electronic Registration Selection Process

On Friday, March 27, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (“USCIS”) began notifying petitioners and legal representatives confirming that it has conducted an initial random selection process (“lottery”) of the FY2021 H-1B cap online registrations submitted earlier this month. The USCIS intends to notify petitioners with selected registrations no later than this Tuesday, March 31. While the USCIS received more electronic registrations than available new H-1B visas for FY2021, registrations not selected in the initial lottery will be held in reserve. The reserve registrations may be drawn upon later, sometime prior to October 1, if the numbers selected initially are determined insufficient to fill the cap limits. We will notify employers and their H-1B registrants of any updates on lottery selection results.
