DOS Changes Case Status Update for Administrative Processing on CEAC Website

On March 3, 2020, the Department of State (“DOS”) made an update to the Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC) website, the online portal for visa applicants. A visa applicant whose case is undergoing administrative processing will now receive a case status update showing “Refused” on the CEAC website. The status will change when the administrative processing is completed, and the visa can be issued. Per DOS, this is an administrative change to more accurately communicate case status to applicants.
