Trump Tweets Plan to Temporarily Suspend U.S. Immigration

President Trump announced late last night through his Twitter account that he would "temporarily suspend immigration." At this point, we do not know how this announcement will translate into official immigration policy. The Department of Homeland Security is reportedly drafting an Executive Order, which we expect to be released from the White House today or tomorrow. It is unlikely that the suspension will impact persons who are already working here legally in the United States, or that the policy will affect change of employers (transfers), extensions of stay, or other petitions and applications filed through the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services ("USCIS") Service Centers. We will keep you updated through our news alerts as we learn more about this important development.
